Opportunity of a Lifetime for Former Refugees

Southern Youth Development was honoured to be among only ten organisations across the country to be given special funding to help support young people with leadership skills as a part of the FIFA Womens World Cup 2023 Eyes On NZ campaign.

With our kaupapa being focused primarily on empowering young people to achieve their own successes through activities and challenging themselves, syd was pleased to be able to offer several opportunities for young people to come together and celebrate their abilities.

This group of young former refugee women took to the slopes, all of them never having been skiing before. They worked together - planning their logisitics, support and acitivities while focusing on key leadership skills that they can use in their everyday and professional lives.
