Bringing the Community Together

This summer we had the opportunity to participate in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge - one of only 7 for-impact (not-for-profit) organisations in Dunedin to do so. We had an amazing time encouraging people to take up cycling during a period of the most amazing weather and as a team, we managed to clock up 1615 points with over 655km ridden. Thank you to all that supported us and cycled during the challenge!

This years Stride, Ride and Slide, Sport Otago asked Southern Youth Development to run a sausage sizzle fundraiser for the work we do in the community. We had a great time at this event (picture with Batman and Batgirl attached!) and managed to raise $370 for our youth programmes. A massive thank you to Sport Otago for their support and for providing us with a BBQ.

Recycled pavers from the George Street redevelopment and some gravel is going to make a world of difference for us at Southern Youth Development. The pavers will be used to make our community planter boxes and containers for bicycle recycling more accessible. A big thanks to the Dunedin City Council for supplying us with the pavers, as well as Isaac Construction for the generosity in donating gravel to help us get them level.

We've started our annual fundraiser, Toss the Boss, and you'll get more communications from us about this as we get closer to the time, but if you've got a chance, head on over to our Toss the Boss page and support our community leaders as they face their fears, all in the name of a great cause. You can find more information here.
