Our AE program, making an Impact.
SYD's Impact Programme provides alternative education to rangatahi poised to develop self confidence and independence. Our skilled kaimahi walk alongside these youth to scaffold their progress and work to provide real world experiences that build responsibility and resilience.
With spring in the air, youth worker Michelle has been ensuring that learning and development has been happening in nature where possible. This builds connection to the land as well as encourages self care in the form of exercise and the abundance of positive impacts on mental health.
Day to day routines on the programme include building life skills as a matter of course including baking some delicious treats along the way.
Finally the bee's are back!!! Thanks to our partnership with Dunedin Bee Keepers Club, ranagatahi have the opportunity to engage with the beloved skill of bee keeping. Hives were returned after their winter respite to our location here at Maori Road and they certainly seem to be settling in and enjoying the spring blossoms.
